Cortland Diner

There is a reason this place packs them in all times of day...fast, friendly, attentive service and plentiful portions of food! Our first visit consisted of breakfast items and loved those hash browns and home fries. Bathroom was a bit messy, but understandable given the steady flow of traffic. Great meal and we'll be back!
We saw Takedown here just a week ago...great show! This review is about the theater specifically and we marvel at how this small gem of a theater/community center operates. It is so worth supporting and kudos to the founders and staff. You all are quintessential NYC so don't stop and keep growing! Bravo!
Irish Arts Center

Having criss-crossed almost every theater venue in our amazing NYC, the Irish Arts Center had eluded me until now. This is a dazzling, pristine building with a unique cafe and a lovely theater. The staircase and the engraved affirmations and quotations is just breathtaking. Standing Ovation for the venue and tonight's performance of Good Vibrations!
When strolling along Amsterdam, just pop in. You will be greeted by the quintessential NYC "Black and White" cookies in traditional icing colors and an assortment of other hues. Soft, sweet and although the main attraction of this bakery...there are many other offerings as well...enjoy!
Look...I don't deny there are signs of wear and tear in this Landmarked building, but these 5 stars are dedicated to the small blackbox theaters and the fact that for 45 years the Director has dedicated himself to this passion for the craft. We recently attended a night of one acts and were astonished when a renowned playwright and television scriptwriter was in the front row. These are the moments that small venues deliver and in the words of Neil Young and Stephen Stills, "Long May You Run!"
