Great location down by the water in Old Town Alexandria. This is a popular location, so I’d definitely recommend a reservation if you coming on the weekend or during a busy time. In addition to the seating inside, there is also a deck with good views outside as well that is great during good weather. The food is a bit on the expensive side, but I think you get what you pay for, and I’ve never been disappointed with a dish.
I used the National Security Law Firm for a security clearance case, and highly recommend their services. Throughout a long, 9 month appeal related to my clearance with a defense intelligence component, the lawyers and staff kept me well informed, and helped give me a sense of ownership and agency in my appeal.

I was happy with the responses we submitted back to the government, and we prevailed in the end, allowing me to keep my job and clearance. Carl and Luke both did an outstanding job pulling together the materials and presenting a compelling narrative refuting the government's case.

Appealing a clearance decision is not something you can do you on your own given the stakes. The professionals at the National Security Law Firm will give you the best shot you have to protect your clearance and career.

With airplanes landing and taking off 100 feet over your head, this has long been a local favorite. Just north of the main runway at Ronald Regan National Airport, this park is right along the Potomac and is a great spot to spend an afternoon. There are pick nick tables, and a wide open field which is great for large group sports activities.

The Mount Vernon trail also runs through the the park, so it’s not a bad place to park if you plan to bike/run the trail. There is also normally plenty of parking, though it can get crowded on weekends and days with nicer weather. You can only access from the north bound lanes of the GW Parkway, so it can be a little harder to access.
World War I Memorial

This memorial gets a lot less traffic since it’s off the National Mall, and I suspect it’s an overlooked gem. It’s still a work in progress, with the current mural planned to be replaced by a sculpture of the same size. The explanation for how the sculpture is being developed is pretty cool with live actors, and the memorial overall is a fitting tribute to the men and women who sacrificed their lives in this war.
We’ve come to this park several times over the past few years to watch fireworks on July 4th, and it’s always been a great location. We normally park at the Pentagon North Parking lot, and walk over. Leaving can take a while, but it’s definitely easier than trying to navigate downtown DC.
