This gate was built in order to enter Mashakh Square during the time of Feth Ali Shah Qajar and it was called "Mashakh Square Gate". Mashakh Square was one of the largest military squares in Tehran and was under the control of the Shahneshahi army. After the construction of this gate, it was planned to establish the first public garden of the capital called "Meli Garden" in the inner lands of Masakh Square, and after that the name of this gate was changed to "Sardar Bagh Meli". The national garden did not last more than a few years; However, with the construction of many buildings such as the National Library, the Museum of Ancient Iran and the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this headland is called "Meli Garden Headland". Currently, there is nothing left of Masakh square and only its main building remains.
Regarding the history of Mashakh Square, it was established during the time of Fath Ali Shah Qajar and developed and expanded during the period of Naseruddin Shah. This building, which has walls consisting of brick arches around it and has a gate with a double door and two arches, was made square in order to respect Mohammad Hassan Khan Sepahsalar. Mashakh Square is actually located in the area between Post Alley and Sepeh Bank, on Imam Khomeini Street. In the following years, a building in the Russian style of architecture was built in the northwest of Sardar Naseri, which was the center of the state Kazakh Khanate and was managed by European and Russian military advisers. This mansion is actually part of the oldest existing building in Mashakh square. After the Qajar period and with the beginning of the Pahlavi dynasty, when western urban planning patterns entered the country, the order of this building was also disrupted. By disrupting the order of urban patterns, the ground was provided for the transformation of the structure of the feudal or pre-capitalist Iranian society. At that time, Reza Khan moved the barracks outside of Tehran and vacated Mashakh Square and decided to build administrative facilities there. This building later became a national garden, but it did not last for a few years, and after that, buildings such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Library, and the Museum of Ancient Iran began to be built in it. In this square, two guard posts located in the western and eastern parts have been destroyed, and the beautiful and unique view of the Sardar building is somewhat affected by its two neighboring buildings.

This museum is located on South Kargar Street, Pastor Square and across from Har Square metro station inside Jang University. The best way to get there is to use the subway. Har Square metro station on the second line (Farhangsara-Sadeghieh) is located in front of the complex. To use a private car, you can access the complex from the ancient square. For this purpose, consider that this area is located in the traffic plan of Tehran. You may also have a problem with parking. Geographical location of the war museum on the map History of the war museum After the extinction of the Qajar dynasty and the coming to power of Reza Shah, Abdul Hossein Timurtash, who was appointed as the minister of the court, bought this mansion from Sardar Mohtsham Bakhtiari and lived in it as a residence. When Timurtash was angered and ordered to kill him on the 9th day of October 1312, his properties were confiscated and this mansion, which was especially important to Reza Shah, was handed over to the army to establish the War University. In 1312, an architect named "Karim Taherzadeh Behzad" worked to build the Jang University building next to the Kolah Ferangi mansion, and the university building was completed with his efforts. After the completion of the building of the War University and its opening, the Kaleh Ferangi building was used as the command building of the War University, which continued until after the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. In 1373, this mansion was registered by the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization in the list of national monuments of Iran under number 11197.
