If you like your burgers WELL done, this place is for you. They smash the burgers and cook them until they're screaming for life. Great bun, good grilled onions, nice pickle and tasty sauce.
Wonderful flavors and a LOT of food for the money. I had the $9.99 1/2 chicken plate. Here's what you get: 1/2 chicken, rice, beans, salad, 1/4 grilled onions, grilled whole jalapeño and your choice of salsas. Wow. The place is super clean and service is fast and friendly.

Sadly the chicken was very dry and the skin was not crisp and also dry.
If you haven't been to this jewel of Mexican culture and art, you're missing a two story, professionally done space with changing exhibits. Historical and contemporary depictions of Mexican life in Los Angeles; depicted using brilliant photography, video and recreated street life spaces. It's free and open every day except Tuesday.
1-17-2023. First time in many years I've seen the entire space utilized. It's huge.
Currently exhibits from: Barbara Krueger, Judith F. Baca, Garrett Bradley and Talk Madani. Much of the art is explicit and wonderful.

____________

Well worth a visit. The current exhibit from Barbara Kruger is immersive and "alive". There is motion and color everywhere. Little treats are hiding all over if you look. According to staff - this took over 2 years to set up (exacerbated by the pandemic). You need to make reservations online and show proof of vaccination.

Seeing "The Art of African Blacksmiths" exhibit was an awakening for me. It seems they've been forging steel for longer than the rest of the planet by hand.

The designs and attention to detail is striking. Tools, weapons, chastity devices, neck and waist adornments, headgear - it's quite humbling.

Everything is beautifully displayed and there are videos showing the Blacksmiths meticulously crafting some of what's on display. Educational for all ages.
