The Portside Pub

I went here as part of a conference event. So we only took up the 2nd floor. We didn't use the 1st floor so this review isn't really 100% accurate lol.

The 2nd floor was quite private and we were hidden from the 1st floor sight though we could see them. It was nice.

The only thing is that it's too dark! I couldn't see anyone or anything. Heck, I couldn't even see my food LOL.

The staff there were amazing. Dave the bartender was so nice and even gave a complimentary drink when he knew it was my 1st time drinking.

The other staff were amazing. They looked stressed, especially that one guy clearing the tables and giving food. But they were all very polite.

The food was very good. They had mac and cheese, sliders, falafel?, Pizza, and some french looking appetizers. It was pretty salty but nonetheless good. They even had food warmers which was a nice touch.

The washrooms were cool, and had a brewery/dock kind of theme. Very artistic!
VIFF Centre

VIFF is such a great centre. Their venue is great, quiet and very theatric. It's like a movie theatre but with class. They play many movies and even short films throughout the year.

They even hosted TEDx Youth Sunset beach in which I was honored to be a speaker. The staff and technical people were all wonderfully kind. Zoey, Jorgan, and everyone were all so friendly. Despite technical difficulties, they were very professional and dealt with it sufficiently.

The building itself is so beautiful. It seems like a museum. Everything is so clean and well maintained. The only problem is that because of the glass exterior, it gets really hot inside. The theatre is the only cool place with A/C.
Cameron Park

Cameron park is beautiful. When I grew up, this was just grass. I'm so glad the city of Burnaby decided to make a park.

I'm more excited for the new complex coming in 2026. I've been waiting 17 years for it.

The park consists of a picnic area with a waterpark, a gym/place for seniors, and some trails for joggers or bikers.

It's really beautiful especially in the summer. Whats convenient is that the library and gym is right beside it, so you can use the washroom and enjoy the contents.
I always pass by here when I go to the hospital, but it's my first time here.

My friend brought my sister and I here as a surprise. And boy, was I surprised 😂.

It's such a pretty place with an ambient atmosphere. The waitresses were very nice and quite patient with us. We sat on a patio (😁) and enjoyed our dinner. The patio was nice because it feels like people walking by are close to us, but they're actually below us.

Their washrooms are so cool, it's like glass and compartmentalized, like the ones in Japan.

The food was kinda expensive though, especially some dishes with smaller portions than we thought, but they were yummy nonetheless. We didn't get to order the key lime pie but will be coming back for that!
When my friend and I were in front of the store, we saw the happy hour sign that caught our eye. It said "happy hour from 5-8pm!"

We were excited cause we were pretty hungry food. It was 5:12pm. The with said OPEN and the door was unlocked.

When we walked in, the tables were completely cleaned up. The chairs were stacked. It looked like it was closing. We thought that they might not be opened yet, but saw that the staff were chatting with some customers.

They completely ignored us even as we just stood there. It was very awkward. We even waved and walked towards them.

Ignored.

The chef saw us but didn't say anything but minded his own business.

We were so upset that we decided to just leave. I wouldn't want to come back again, not with THAT service.
