Journey Cafe
2023 Oct 03
Always on the lookout for a new Café to try. Was meeting up on a first date on Sept 30th and I suggested this Café as it's between both of our places.
It's a little hidden from the main road but the sign is visible from the parking lot. Lots of parking was available, including Handicap parking. Their hours are visible from their entrance.
From the outside it looks small but once inside, it catches you off guard. There's a nice entrance with seating, beautiful signage and displays, a nice size counter and service area and then further back is even more seating! Very well hidden gem.
Love their caulk board sign and I took my time looking over all the options. They serve a Canadian Roasted coffee from BC. As always, got a cup of their drip coffee and I loved that it came in a proper mug as I was staying. The blend of coffee wasn't for me when I drink it just black. But with cream or sugar, I'm sure it would have been fine. Though it wasn't busy, there was cups on the table from the previous customers. The server came and took them away but didn't wipe down the table, which still had cup marks all over. Oh well....
I would happily come back and try some items on their menu, server had some recommendations and I would love to give them a try next time.
Assiniboine Park

Been rollerblading at this park since 1993. Decided to return and hoped to see some favorite places and the new additions.
Sadly, most paths are in desperate need of being repaved. My wheels were constantly getting stuck, the paths are still made using the old rock path that vibrates my wheels. My feet were numb by the end of my two hour trip. This is also not great for push scooters. So young kids will find it difficult, especially when they have to pass over the tar filled lines.
The park has made some great upgrades but their paths are totally lacking and they need to be upgraded as not everyone uses bikes on the walking paths. Would love to see some funds used to upgrade the paths. Some paths even have full on weeds growing between the cracks on the cement paths. I'm thankful that I am quite solid on my blades and did not fall, but I can see some adults and kids taking a tumble.
Love that the paths have remained open, but they are in desperate need of an upgrade.
Love the extra kid zones, old Beach volleyball courts, BBQ spots, new additions and the Pavillion where I saw a wedding taking place on a Friday afternoon.
First time trying Bubble Tea. They helped me pick out something easy, but I was still able to customize it.
Able to watch them make my Strawberry Milk Tea. Love the device that seals the drinks.
However, even with the pointy end of the straw I wasn't able to pierce the top. Added some more strength and I managed to put the straw right through the top and side of the cup! Had left the mall and was at a park so it wasn't like I was nearby and could get another.
From what I did taste, it was sweet and tasty. The lil jellies were nice, I'm just not used to chewing a drink. Reminds me of the 90s fail of Orbitz. But I will give them a second chance, just ask that they cut a small hole in the top for me.
Mill Woods Spray Park

Went on a date to the park looking away from the spary park. The location has a good amount of parking with port a potties right next to the park. Was clean and pretty quite. At 9pm the spray park turns off the water and with reason. Love the views from the top and how quiet it was.
