The Erie Canal is a beautiful thing to experience. What the City of Camillus has done to it is not so nice. Very congested small parking areas that you have to walk through to continue on, with constantly moving traffic. The wooded trail on the other side just ends at the Aqueduct, but when I called the Parks Dept. some girl stated she has walked across the cement pilings to the other side, but I have a hard time imagining that. Plus, they took down the Historic bridge that was there, which would have been a great thing to restore as a footbridge , like they did in on the Dewitt Towpath. Plus the website states there are 10 miles of wooded trails, but I couldn't find any sign or access to these, just a short "Nature Trail" behind the "Sims Store", which isn't a store at all, but a museum!!! What the Heck!!! Very disappointed in all.
