My husband and I really enjoyed visiting the Museum of the Albemarle. The best thing about the museum are the people that work there. We had multiple museum employees greet us and share information and wisdom with us. We liked how the information was shared. You can scan a QR code to open a webpage that takes you on a tour thru the museum. It shares much of the same material you can read and some anecdotes and info not on the displays. This museum is free to visit.
This a great spot to visit if you are interested in the history of Boston. This spot is on the freedom trail through the city. You can go downstairs and read about history and they have a video which you can view that focuses on slavery and the abolitionist movement. It was very informative, especially the part that some notable Bostonians had. Upstairs there are staff for the National Parks service and you can get stamps for the US national parks book if you have one. You can also purchase one and start collecting your stamps .
For a bibliophile this shop is a little piece of heaven. From the courtyard next door filled with books to the rows to peruse inside, there is much to discover. I have to get on a plane so cannot indulge in buying a lot of books. I had a great time checking out what was on the shelves. Such a diversity. There is a whole section about Massachusetts and Boston specific as well. If you are in the area you should definitely stop in! You can smell the books when you walk in the door😊
This is such a cute shop and worth a visit. We got there just before the 4:30 close time and the proprietor, Debra told us to take our time. We enjoyed perusing the shop. All sorts of decor items! There were a lot of items for Easter which is the next holiday approaching. Debra was there to answer questions or offer suggestions. The outside is so inviting! There is not a public restroom. Cash, checks or Venmo are accepted as payment.
My husband and I attended the Edgar Allen Poe Speakeasy event. The parking is all around the building. To avoid foot traffic at the front doors and for easy exit turn immediately left upon entering the lot and park on the side of the building. There were photo opportunities inside. One criticism would be that the women's restroom really needed some attention. All of the staff were dressed for the event. They even used Poe styles conversation as they answered your questions. The drinks were pretty good. I liked the Nevermore the best. The waiters that served you're drinks also were the performers. The interpretive decorations were great. Overall we really enjoyed the experience!
