After recently having dinner at Dim Sum Palace in C-town last week, we enjoyed a belated Mother's Day family style Cantonese dinner in NYC's C-town #2, Flushing. The food here was better in every way than Dim Sum Palace, larger portions, more authenticity (subjectively), lower prices, good cleanliness, easy street parking after 7pm. Lamb chops, beef short ribs, sweet and sour fish filet, water spinach, Peking style pork chops, ginger-scallion lobster 🦞, seafood chow mein, beef chow mein. Everything prepared to Canto standards. Service is "upside down smile", but no different than every other Cantonese restaurant we've eaten at for the last 40 years. Don't expect them to be friendly, but the food is yummy 😋!
Meager selection of Asian mall food here. Dim sum looked good, but too late in the day to try. Maybe next time!
West Village sushi spot only half filled with what looked like NYU coeds on the evening we visited. Easy seating on a busy Saturday night made us a little concerned. Tiny tables with dusty ledges and window sills, very 1970's NY vibe. Ordered the sushi sashimi for 3 since we were hungry. Didn't come with miso soup or salad :( but the selection of sashimi and sushi was fresh and "umami" :) No premium items like uni, ebi botan, scallops or toro, just the standard tuna, yellowtail, salmon, avocado and imitation crab.
With so many very good sushi sashimi restaurants in NYC, though not notable, this place was passable for no-frills sushi. Below average value at about $150 for the sushi sashimi platter for 3 (perfectly portioned for 2 people) and a beer. One hit wonder.

Hell's Kitchen French eatery in tight surroundings with small, cozy tables the way the French like it. Four of us shared 4 appetizers, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine a la familia, family style. The portion sizes were acceptable and everything was well prepared, no complaints, no standouts, but the Daube short rib was very tender. Nice weekend night out spot, eat, chat, drink lightly all in vibrant NYC, theater district/Hell's Kitchen surroundings.
Great time at the Van Gogh experience. Very happy that post COVID, this venue is owly coming back to life. Important to support the arts, in whatever form they take.
