WOW. I regularly go on *Days of Culture" to learn about new places. This place is LOADED. They have more history here than the Betsey Ross House, Ben Franklin's Ghost House and Edgar Allen Poe houses combined in Philadelphia. The docents here are super nice and informative. Highly recommend. Doing Fayetteville proud.
Be prepared to climb very narrow stairs. It's the way the houses were made back then and there are no elevators. Extremely small house but packed with history. History and Philadelphia should be very proud. Couple of actor portray Betsey and others bring it to life even more. You can even visit her grave onsite. Admission is cheap. I definitely want to come back. Definitely a place to visit when it's not busy. And I would not be a group over 5 unless you break down in smaller groups. The house and rooms, viewing areas are that small.
2nd time I've been here. Very impressive museum. Wished there was an audio tour option. If there is one, it wasn't offered. Some of the displays were a little dark for some to be able to read and I was very tired to read the whole museum. 4 floors. When you walk in you just see a vast walkway area but go behind the walls and there are the real displays. Would have liked to see a bigger display on their kitchens and how they prepare their foods. Yes I'm a foodie. Start at the top and work your way down. There is a nice little theater area with old small theater seats where you can learn how the Jewish community basically created Hollywood. Make sure you give yourself a couple hours to really enjoy it or keep coming back like I do.
Very extensive gift shop too.

I had to visit for Halloween. I looked it up first. The house is a mere shell of a building and is not furnished. Only a sketch adorns a wall and that's about it. Still a cool place whether you're a Poe fan or not. One room is set up to the style of a person with means in that time would look like but nothing of Poe's is in the house. 3 stories and a cellar. Very narrow and steep stairs, not for handicap or wheelchairs.
Very nice walking trail all the way to Rogers Lake Rd, but doesn't say how far the distance is. Wished there was more info about local flora around the trail.
