this hike is awesome. we did it mid july in excellent clear skies and warm weather. with *very robust and used to it* 11,9 and 6 year olds.
the views as you clear the tree line are just stunning. there was some snow at the end of trail / hermit campground at the top.
that said, this is not an easy hike. while the route is clearly marked, the elevation is 1 in 6, you go up one meter for every 6 forward which is to say it’s very steep and gnarly. it took our party 2.5hrs up, 1.5hrs down - it’s so steep the downhill isn’t fast.
for the right people, highly recommended.
