We looked forward to our visit to the SANAA designed extension to the NSW Art Gallery. Walked to the gallery so not sure what car parking might be like. Also assumed that the two gallerys were linked, they are not, each with its own dedicated entry. It was a hot sunny day, the glass canopy entry did not encourage lingering. Inside the gallery itself is as much a part of the display as the art collection. A bright and airy, if slightly confusing, series of pavilions stepping down the steep site. In contrast, the repurposed oil tank gallery is dark and mysterious. Nice gift shop at the entry. Next visit we will try the cafe.
We visited George Square Gardens during the Fringe Festival, being the site for the Assembly. Centrally located in the University and a short walk from the Old Town. Green and shaded during summer, nice place to sit especially during the festival.
The Woody Point foreshore and parks have become a great place to spend a weekend morning either walking or using the shared bikeway. Wide views out over the bay, shops and cafés nearby. Picnic style shelters, facilities include public toilets and children's playground. Easy bike access from here either back down towards the bridge or further up the peninsular.
This could be classified as a destination playground. Situated at the Alice Street end of the gardens, next to Bunya Walk and the popular pedestrian/ bike route. Wide range of children's play equipment, in a shady, green forest setting. Seating and tables with toilet facilities near by in the Rotunda.
Very popular children's playground and picnic area under tall shady pine trees. Conveniently located adjacent car parking and Mooloolaba shopping area. Loo with a View near by, as well as the surf clubhouse and patrolled surf beach.
