Literally the cutest shop in all of Amsterdam! They have everything, from children’s books and games about Islam, clothes, handmade Moroccan pottery, cosmetics, teas and artisanal coffee, scented oils, anything else you would find at a Moroccan market... Products you won’t find anywhere else, selected with love. Also the coziest breakfast spot!
Beautiful space with a library, I came specifically for the (free) gallery. There is a room with a contemporary exhibition which I found weird in a cool way, and one about the bank employees at the beginning of 20th century. That sounded so niche and uninteresting to me, but ended up being totally fascinating and educational. It gives you an impression of Turkish society a hundred years ago, its diversity, political circumstances and various identities, all through the employee records of the bank’s staff. You only need about 15-30 mins for the visit but so worth it! At least if you happen to be in the area.
Absolutely stunning interior and a very welcoming mosque with a great vibe. You can learn about Islam while there. If you’re not dressed appropriately, you can borrow a covering dress and headscarf free of charge. As a woman you can pray in the main area but also in a separate women’s area. We went shortly before prayer time and it wasn’t busy at all.
