In terms of bridge engineering, the structural integrity of the bridge is fair. As for aesthetic engineering of the bridge and its girders, it is the ugliest bridge to cross the Susquehanna at Harrisburg. Nonetheless the bridge carries heavy loads without fault, but is in need of help due to deferred maintenance.
