San Diego Zoo
2024 Jan 13
I enjoyed my trip to the San Diego Zoo. I would recommend getting the tickets online to save a few extra dollars. It is $70-$72 to get in to the zoo, which may seem like a lot but at least they offer free parking. The zoo itself is massive. The bus tour and tram ride is included with the price of the ticket was nice and was a great way to explore the park. I would recommend renting a scooter for $60 dollars to fully get the most out of the park if you aren’t able to walk. I walked 6 miles and still did not see the entire zoo. I would also like to recommend the zoo creating an app for the public to guide us better.
Nothing Bundt Cakes

Great little Bundt cake store on Wolf Road. So many great options. I would recommend the red velvet and confetti!
Legends Gifts

Legends gifts was a solid gift store right on Broadway. It is literally packed here at all times of the day. They have a good variety of clothing, magnets, spices, and ornaments.

They also have a really cool Elvis Zoltar which I did. To be honest, the prediction of my future was underwhelming, but it was worth doing for a dollar to get advice from the King! Not everyday does one speak with royalty.
Ole Red

Ole Red is a great tavern style bar with a low rising stage below with seating all around. It has one of the largest gift shops in any bar on Broadway. Although the entrance can be confusing when first approaching the bar, I think it was a clever idea to have the entrance on the side.

Often at night, especially during holidays or the weekends, it can become overcrowded with people so having a line to get in start down adjacent to the building is a good idea. The building itself was a bank long before and it still says “Broadway National Bank” on the front facade of the building.

My favorite part about Ole Red was the Lookout. Most of the rooftop bars in Nashville have a large party vibe. At the lookout on Ole Red, it is a nice, classy bar that has an intimate feel with ample seating to spare. Brown leather couches line walls and tables for those ordering food.

Outside on the patio there is additional seating with high-top tables and wicker couches and chairs. The umbrellas and propane fueled heaters outside assure comfortable accommodations on a colder day. I would recommend getting the nachos and pretzel if you are looking for something to snack on.

The best part about the lookout was the fact that you were able to listen to live music and eat food without having to yell to the person across the table. It was a revelation from the different dining experiences I have had thus far on Broadway. I can’t wait to go back!
Nice small gift shop with items to buy. It defiantly needs to be updated or redesigned because the exhibits looked like they have been very dusty and worn. I would also recommend some kind of music or TV monitor because it was pitch silence when I was in there and it felt like it could use some life. With that said, they do great work, so five stars!
