I am a graduate student at UTA, and it is extremely uncomfortable how university officials push political conformity onto students by shoving specific views onto the student body. UTA has propped up horse statues with one having a "pride" flag on it, and they constantly insult hispanics by using "Latinx" in their school emails. I am glad that under Texas law, UTA will be required to shut down DEI offices and treat everyone equally regardless of their identities. As a minority, you guys aren't helping us nor have helped us just because you deluded yourself into thinking every "poc" is ideologically monolithic. I highly recommend that after January 2024, UTA students ensure that any office on campus that focuses on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Report these offices to authorities, seek legal remedy, and email their views to the school. A lot of students will avoid directly criticizing these policies as they do not want to get into trouble with the school or get kicked out. The "progressive" student union also hijacks represenation in the student government which exacerbates the disproportionate representation given to specific groups.
