507 Roti Pratha with Curry Sauce = RM5.50
505 Lontong Goreng = RM10.50
251 Cawanmas Home Blend Coffee (No Sugar) = RM8.90
SST Tax = RM1.49
This is Big Eatery Nicely Renovated in a 马来风味 Style and Cleanly Maintained. There were quite a Few Customers even at 11.00am on a Thursday.
The Staffs are Friendly. Among them is a Very Adorable Makcik who was Especially Friendly and Welcoming. She was the first to come greet me "Good Morning" and even when she was wearing a Mask, I could still "see" her Cute Smile.
Coffee was first to be served after 4 Mins, and both Lontong and Pratha were up in 5 Mins. Everything was served up in 5 Mins.
251 Cawanmas Home Blend Coffee (No Sugar) = RM8.90
Served in a Small Cup and has a Nice Roasted Coffee Bean Smell. Appearance looks Diluted but its not. Taste is Milky, and has what I would describe as a "Creamy Deep Bitterness" thats Not Overly Bitter. Quality is Decent.
507 Roti Pratha with Curry Sauce = RM5.50
The Pratha Curry is Watery but Woo!! This is Spicy! In fact, when I first tasted it, the Spiciness immediately attacked my Throat and sting hard and linger long. Woo! This Curry is Fierce! It has a Nice Curry Aroma. I thought the Curry tasted somewhat Sweetish.
The Sambal has a Sweetish Saltish Taste. More Sweet than Salty. Mildly Spicy, Has a Smooth Texture with no Grittiness. This taste like a Sambal you'd eat for Nasi Lemak. Not Bad Sambal if you like the Sweetish Type.
The Pratha itself is Good Quality. Dough is the Soft type and Not Doughy and has a Delightful Outer Crispy Layer. The Crispiness is like Small Little Crackling Crispy 脆脆 type of Texture. The Dough itself has a Nice 油香味 and it tastes good by itself Kosong even without any Curry or Sauce.
Dipping this Pratha into the Curry drenches it and it soaked up the Curry deeply like a Sponge and it can still manage to maintain its Outer Layer Crispy Texture. If you add that Sambal, it will have an Additional Sweetish hit to the Bite. Delightfully Yummy!
505 Lontong Goreng = RM10.50
I was taken aback by how Large Portion this was! The Photo on their Menu made it look like a Small Side-Dish, but the actual thing felt like it is enough for 2 Pax.
The Sambal that comes with this Lontong is not the Same Sambal that came with Pratha. Its Thicker and Grittier in Texture and has a "Deeper Sambal-ness". Spiciness is not Strong, not as Sweetish, and leans more towards Savoury.
The Pieces of Lontong Cubes makes the Dish look like a "Cai Tao Kueh with Sambal" but its not. The Kueh is not Radish Kueh but actually Malay Ketupat that has a Soft Bite Texture. Seeing it mixed with so much Sambal like this resembling a Cai Tao Kueh was new to me. I liked the addition of Taugeh which gives the dish some amount of Veggie Crunch.
Having said that, I thought the Amount of Sambal was too much for me. Because there are so much Sambal, I jelaked halfway through the Meal and couldn't finish the whole thing. If you order this, make sure to share this with someone. Personally I feel if they half the current portion, it would be just nice.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At RM8.90 (S$2.80), I thought it was a Tad Expensive for this Cup of Coffee. Its Nice and Decent, but I don't feel its worth RM8.90. Although I did not try it, I thought their other 3-in-1 Version priced at RM5.20 (S$1.60) felt like a more Reasonable Price.
RM5.50 (S$1.70) for the Pratha is Expensive when compared with a Roti Canai in a Kopitiam, but this is a Mall Eatery after all. I enjoyed how Well Made, Tasty and Crispy the Roti Dough was even when eaten on its own without any Sauces.
RM10.50 (S$3.30) for this Big Plate of Lontong Goreng is worth the Money to try, but definitely share this with someone because the Amount of Sambal can feel Overwhelming.
If you have a craving for some Malay-Styled Cuisine when you're here in KSL City Mall, I can recommend this. Its Nice, Comfortable and a Good Place to Relax and Chill.

淡汶饼 Tambun Biscuit (16 Pieces) = RM10.00
马蹄酥 Beh Teh Saw (8 Pieces) = RM12.50
No Service Charge
I have Very Fond Memories of Him Heang because my Grandmother used to buy this. As a Little Boy, I had no idea where this Biscuit Pastry came from, or what it is actually called.
So, to finally come to Penang for the very 1st time and be in the Presence of the Him Heang HQ was quite a Moving Experience. Its a Huge Building, with a Main Retail Shop. This Shop itself is not very big.
What I am most surprised are seeing Military Personnels in Uniform at their Main Entrance. Sibeh 夸张 lor, this is the 1st Time I've seen Military Personnels stationed right infront of an Eatery. As there were No Crowds at 2.10pm on a Monday Afternoon, they beckoned me inside accordingly.
The Actual Him Heang Staffs within are Friendly and Welcoming. There are no Dining In Areas, this is only a Retail Shop with a Large Bakery attached to the back.
淡汶饼 Tambun Biscuit (16 Pieces) = RM10.00
I have eaten this in the past and only until recently do I know what they're actually called. Hahaha I've always known them as "That Round Biscuit Kueh that Ah Ma always buys".
The Thing that I noticed is that Classic Old School Packaging. Everything from the Box to even the White Plastic Carrier Bag they use is the Same as I've remembered over 35 Years ago!
If you have never eaten this before, its basically a Classic Chinese Pastry with a Filling thats made out of Mung Bean. It has a Very Soft Bitefeel that is Soft on the Teeth. The Sweetness is Very Subtle and Not Overly in your Face. From a Culinary and Baking Standpoint looking at this, the Amount of Layering done on the Pastry itself is Impressive.
马蹄酥 Beh Teh Saw (8 Pieces) = RM12.50
While i have not eaten this before, it has a Similar Look and Taste Profile to Taiwan's Sun Cake 太阳饼 or the Traditional Wife Cake 老婆饼. The type of Pastry with a Very Flaky Outer Pastry Shell and a Layer of Slightly Thickened and Soft Malty Honey Jam that doesn't cling to your Teeth. If you've eaten such Pastries before, you'll know what im saying here. Not Overly Sweet.
Why did I give this my Highest Score?
一句话: Consistency.
It's that First Bite when I bite into it. The Last Time I've had this was probably at least 30 years ago. Before I came to Penang, I don't even know the Actual Name of this Pastry, yet when I took my First Bite of it, Nostalgic Memories came Flooding Back of the Times I ate this with my Grandmother.
Its not only the Taste, its the Whole Packaging. EVERYTHING from the Box they use, to even that Plastic White Carrier Bag has not changed since I remembered as a Little Boy.
To be able to be so Persistently Consistent for 76 Years is Really Not Easy especially in Today's World where everything also need to Change and Modernize.
I'm really glad that despite how much the World has changed in the Last 35 years, there are still places like Him Heang that has mostly remained the same. Truly can be called "古早味"
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At RM10.00 (S$3.00) for a Box of Tambun Biscuits, I feel this is Very Reasonably Priced. For a Box of this Well Known Classic Pastry to cost RM10.00 in Today's World is really quite Admirable.
RM12.50 (S$3.80) for a Box of Beh Teh Saw consisting of 8 Pieces is also pretty reasonable too. I feel it is Well Made, and if you are someone who enjoys Similar Pastries like Taiwan's Sun Cake or Wife Cake, you will also probably enjoy this one too.
While these are Pastries that obviously are meant for all ages, after eating them, I feel they are Specially Designed for Easy Consumption for Elderly Folks due to their Very Soft Bite Texture and Light and Subtle Sweetness.
Eating this reminds me of my Grandmother. If your Grandparents are still around, treasure them and spend more time with them. Stop Reading Right Now and go give them your Biggest Hug like you're never gonna let them go.
Thank you Him Heang for the Beautiful Memories.

1 Person Set = S$4.00
Small Bowl of Kway = S$0.50
The first thing that hit me was that while the Kway Chup Broth has an Oily Sheen to it, is very Bland and has very little to no salt at all. The Stall Owner confirmed this and explained that his version is very low in sodium.
Perhaps this is the reason why this place doesn't have a high score in Google Maps because this Broth really does not taste as Salty as you'd expect a Kway Chup Broth to taste. That's not to say its terrible, it still does have a Savoury Taste, but overall just feels 清淡 due to the lack of Salt.
The Kway itself taste like Usual Kway you'd expect from a Kway Chup. Acceptable Quality.
Chilli has a Subtle Sourish Kick to it, Slightly Spicy and it does linger on your tongue abit.
Piggy Smell is noticeable but Taste of the Intestines is Clean and they have a Chewy Bouncier Bitefeel. I like the Lor Bak here, it leans towards the Slightly Fatty Side and is Soft to the Bite. For this price, 1 Small Braised Egg is given which I feel is not too bad given how bad Food Prices have risen tbh.
Overall, i'd say the Main Issue here is the Very Bland Broth. You will either Like it or Hate it. If you are ok with a Healthier Tasting, Little to No Salt Broth, this is for you. Overall for me, this is Acceptable as while I don't like the Bland Broth, I don't hate it either.

Egg Mayo Toast = RM4.90
Hot Kopi-O = RM3.00
No Service Charge
Got to know about this place thru JohorKaki's Blog who highly recommended this.
So apparently "The Toast" is quite a popular Toast Franchise similar to Yakun or ToastBox in Singapore and this place is very packed even on a Weekday when I was there.
Their Signature Dish according to Johor Kaki is the Egg Mayo Toast and I have to agree. The amount of filling piled on top feels generous and its Thick and Creamy.
Cream appears to be mixed in with Egg Yolks, it looks thick but actually tastes quite light. This Thick Layer of Egg Mayo combined with the Crispy Thick Toast makes this an Easy Recommendation. This is a Good Tasting Egg Mayo, not the simple type. A Definite MUST TRY when you're here.
That said, I highly recommend to consume this Egg Mayo toast fast, because it does get cold quickly. Once its not Super Hot, I felt the taste degrades very rapidly as the Toast get mushier. Still good, but not as shiok as 1st bite when first arrived.
The Kopi-O itself certainly is Fragrant with a nice Burnt Coffee Bean and Gao Gao Taste. Definitely worth to order too if you enjoy Black Fragrant Coffee.
With a combined price of just RM7.90 at such a Quality, Friendly Staffs and No Service Charge, this is an Easy Recommendation from me.

Halal Coffeeshop suitable for Muslims.
Particularly noteworthy is the crab. I think it was $15 for 2 crabs? Crabs are small, but if you crave for chilli crabs yet don't want to spend much, this is a nice place to go.
