It's probably one of the best things to see in St Petersburg. I had high expectations of the city, but it is flat, grey and all the buildings are similar. This building is perhaps one of the few that stands out. It's very popular and set in quite a nice quarter of the city. The architecture is amazing and quite photogenic, so you will take many more photos than you will ever want to see again or keep. Inside the church is extremely ornate with all the walls and ceilings painted. It's all very 'gold' and rich. Outside there are artists trying to sell their paintings and artistry, which is probably all imported from China.
My partner did his Engineering degree here and loved it. Cardiff is cold and windy, but has many nice areas and great shopping. The university itself was good (according to him) but the awards ceremony long!
Great, if not slightly overrated. I guess you have to be a romantic or religious to really appreciate it, neither of which I am! Still, the scenery is marvellous and it's a great day out. I think it's one of the key places that everyone should visit if you go to Italy as it has real historical significance.
It's not much to look at from outside. Inside it's quite beautiful but, in my opinion, still overrated. The thing that makes it famous is its astronomical clock which is unique. The church was quite crowded around the clock and monuments because of tour guides and tourists, but I guess this is a sign of its popularity. I wasn't overwhelmed and, nice as it was, I wouldn't bother to go back a second time. It's one of those places where you can truly say 'Been there, done that, got the T-shirt'
