very busy hub for railway connections, including the Shinkansen high speed train. there are many shops and restaurants for your convenience, and you can also pick up a lunch box to take with you in the train (i found these meal boxes to be delicious and inexpensive!).
the one inconvenience i noticed was the long wait times for an elevator: there were line ups for most elevators, as travellers with wheelchairs had to share with baby strollers and bunch of suitcases.
but elevators are so small that one has to wait a long time while 3 or 4 people used it at a time. not acceptable in a modern transportation hub! Japan is a wealthy advanced country, I'm sure they can upgrade the elevators.

good quality Vietnamese fare.
we had a soup (great broth, generous amount of tender lean meat cuts, noodles not overcooked), and a grilled pork on rice with egg.
attentive service, free parking in front, plus this bonus: they have the hottest chili oil in town!! 😄 (yeah we've checked dozens of others, this chili 🌶️ oil is the best).
washroom was well stocked and clean, though it was dimly lit.
