On and off i have been to Ike a little over a dozen times in the last 3 or 4 years. The quality and freshness of their sushi has drastically changed since 4 years ago, while their prices have gone up.
In my most recent trip just last month, i found myself comparing some of the sushi to sushi stop just north of Ike. Does this really taste that much better or fresher than sushi stop? If it does, is it worth the price markup? To be fair sushi stop doesn’t offer everything that Ike offers. But at the same time, Ike doesn’t offer anything mouth watering or exotic. The verdict in my opinion, its not worth the markup for the slight increase in taste. On certain non-sushi or rolls, i would even wager the taste to be equal.
Also the whole thing with counter is reserved for omakase, not sure if i ever found either of the chef to be entertaining or engaging enough to worth the trouble.
Go to Osawa in Pasadena and spend slightly more money but for a way better experience. If you aren’t super picky, save money and go to sushi stop instead.

If you are in the mood for average food at 3x the price, this is your spot here. The food is very pricy here. You can walk over the Pimai or Birds for better food and at cheaper prices. Just because this is inside Gelson doesn't automatically mean to have great stuff. Staffs are cool but the taste and portion doesn't justify the spending here. The rotisserie chicken offered by Gelson tasted better than this. The TINY hot food bar tasted better than this.
