I was hesitant to call to ask for help, and my fears were proved correct. I don't know why dealing with these sorts of organisations has to be so painful. Asked some very simple questions politely on the phone and was met with very rude and curt responses. Phone customer service was utterly appalling, hoping the in person experience will be a little bit better.
