Breaking Bean

Great experience- amazing watching the tiny two person team work together to switch roles between preparing food (like making crepes), taking care of customers making coffee and everything else needed to run a small shop. They were exceedingly friendly, service was quick, they are located right by the waterfront. The food and coffee were so good it's the only place we ate at twice on our trip. It is a bit expensive but not bad at all considering the location.

This was a fun experience within easy walking distance of downtown. The coffee was only "okay" for the area but there is great coffee in Vancouver.

I think others might have liked the waffles, I wasn't prepared for the hard crystal sugar chunks and the firm chewy center. It was crunchy and extremely sugary - more like a confection than an entree. The maple syrup was disappointing compared to other syrup in the region.

The potatoes were an unexpected treat and the poached egg was a perfect over medium. Sadly we do not have a picture of the croissant because it came out after our meal was served but it was hot flaky and delicious possibly even freshly baked right then.
