I used to like coming here a few years ago but the people they have working as staff have always been uptight and rude. I happen to walk in for a quick prayer after 5pm Saturday. Mind you I didn’t see any opening/closing times posted other than Mass times. The man tells me “I’m closing, you need to go” in the most uncharitable and borderline angry tone as if I were doing it as a prank or on purpose. I have received much nicer attitudes from people working in stores when accidentally walking in about closing time. The good thing is there are other parishes in the area where staff is kinder and aware they’re located in the center of Midtown Manhattan. Not returning to this church again.
They sell super authentic, affordable and super flavorful pastelitos (Dominican fried empanadas), but don’t let the fact they’re fried scare you away! They make them with different fillings, and they truly don’t disappoint. With many empanada spots opening up, they do not compare because the pricing is high or the flavor is lacking. Here the experience is worth every penny, especially the pastelitos de cangrejo (crab empanada) they make.
No hay nada más auténtico que un pastelito hecho con mucho amor. No te arrepentirás, te lo aseguro.
