Nice cafe and dog friendly! They have outside seating for your furry family member. I had their Taco which are 3 deep fried pieces of chicken on a bed of apple etc slaw and various interesting sauces on a soft tortilla. I love fried chicken. The slaw gave it a sweet taste with the lemon wedge for the sour side kick, and a couple of chilli slices for the “heat”. Ticked all my boxes of sweet, sour, salty and spicy. My friend had the famous Egg Benedict with Smoked Salmon made smokier under a glass cloche with enclosed smoke, remember to smell the smoke when you lift the glass cloche. For me I feel the best part was the potato croquette! Heavenly! The Iced coffee was also very nice, for a nice warm day. The serving sizes are quite large. This rates a “Must Come” for me. I have to try everything else on the menu.
Baba chef

Baba Chef is a very good Malaysian / Chinese restaurant. It’s a small restaurant but thankfully it’s open till 10 pm. So you can go at the off peak periods. We had the fish curry which was an Indian style curry. The fish was well fried and the curry was thick and luscious. I loved it. We also had the Cereal Prawns which was beautifully crunchy. The cereal was so well fried, I just had to have it on my rice. Their Sambal Kangkong is actually the fermented bean version with fried shrimps. Very tasty. The dishes are huge! Incidentally, I thought it was “Peranakan” cuisine, but it turns out not to be, despite the word “Baba”. Those who know about Peranakan cuisine will know what I’m talking about. The word is actually more like “Papa”, which is fine as it is a Chinese restaurant. This definitely rates a “Must Come Back” from me. Next time, I’ll try their other signature dish - the handmade fish balls and fish cake. The only thing is parking is not great during Peak Period, and you have to watch your step outside the restaurant because of a small step just outside the door.
Phoenix Soars Kitchen

If you like fresh fish, try Phoenix Soars in Jackson Court! Get the "one fish, two dishes", for $68. You will get a stir-fried fish with veggies, and another dish of "fried", "braised" or "soup". The fish is super fresh, sturdy and boneless, so you can't go wrong. We had the Fried version once and the Braised another time. My favourite is the Fried version, nice and crunchy, but beware! It's the head and fins thats fried. You MUST also have the Garlic Pork ribs, deep-fried! Best ever! They are famous for their Roast Pork and Roast Duck, so don't forget those as well. You don't have to ask "What should we eat?" any more! Incidentally, some of the dishes are not great. Don't order the sweet and sour pork. Overall, some dishes are not great, but the good ones are amazing. Unfortunately this knocked off a star from my rating, otherwise, they would have gotten 5 stars from me.
