I recently attended an organizational event at Heritage Park, and even though the park was closed to the general public, it was a fantastic experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer size of the park—it spans an extremely large area with realistic setups that depict life in Calgary many generations ago. It’s essentially an entire town set up in a historical format, making it a fascinating place to explore.
One highlight of my visit was the veterinary area, where I got to see how veterinary medicine was practiced back in the day. Our event was set up in the amusement park section, and I had the opportunity to try several rides, including the Ferris wheel. The staff were incredibly kind, polite, and gracious, ensuring we had a memorable experience.
I also noticed a train track that circles the park and regretted not having the chance to ride the trains. I’ll definitely have to come back to Heritage Park next time I’m in Calgary. I highly recommend this park for families and anyone with an interest in history.

Swung by the Byward Market on a Sunday afternoon, and the vibe was just as lively as I hoped. With many shops open, browsing through the quaint little stores was a highlight of my visit to Ottawa. It's always a buzz to see the crowds gathering, not to mention the street performers adding a unique flair to the atmosphere. However, it's hard not to notice a shift in the area's vibe, especially with an increasing number of drug addicts and homeless folks hanging around, not just in the market but also near Rideau Centre. It's a bit of a downer, honestly. At one point, I even walked past someone relieving themselves against a building, and encountered a few unsettling scenes of people clearly struggling with their mental health, shouting or stumbling about. If you're planning a visit, especially with family or by yourself after dark, it pays to be a bit cautious. Despite these issues, the market's worth a look if you're in town, but maybe think twice about hanging around too late. The area feels a bit edgier when the sun goes down, and honestly, there might not be much to do at those hours anyway.
We attended the 10 AM mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on New Year’s Eve, which fell on a Sunday this year. One detail that stood out was the parking situation. Although the church itself didn’t seem to have its own parking, we easily found a spot on a street adjacent to the church. Surprisingly, the street parking was hassle-free with ample space, a rarity in busy areas.
The church was partially filled when we arrived, striking a perfect balance between a communal feel and a sense of personal space. As someone who attended high school nearby, visiting Holy Rosary always feels like a homecoming to me. The church’s beauty never ceases to amaze, with its serene and welcoming atmosphere.
The mass itself was uplifting, with the father delivering a thoughtful and engaging sermon. It was a fitting end to the year and a hopeful beginning to the new one. The church’s ambience and the warmth of the congregation made the experience even more special.
Holy Rosary Catholic Church offers a beautiful setting for reflection and worship. Its convenient location, easy parking, and the meaningful mass make it a gem in the community. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are already looking forward to returning. I wholeheartedly recommend this parish to anyone in the area seeking a welcoming and peaceful place to worship.

I visited Two Cats Bar on King St W in Toronto last Thursday night around 10pm and was immediately captivated by the vibrant atmosphere. The place was bustling with a good crowd, creating an energetic yet welcoming vibe. The music selection was phenomenal, featuring a blend of old school hits that kept the energy high throughout the night. I was thrilled to hear classics from Nirvana, ‘Africa’ by Toto, and the Beach Boys, which added a nostalgic touch to the evening.
The bar’s drink menu was impressive, and I was pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices. It’s rare to find a place that combines great music, a fantastic crowd, and reasonably priced drinks, but Two Cats Bar hits all these marks with ease.
Overall, my experience at Two Cats Bar was nothing short of fantastic. The lively atmosphere paired with the excellent music selection made my night truly memorable. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a great night out in Toronto. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
