The Hamilton
2023 Dec 17
I've never had whiskey before, because my mother always said it was an undignified drink for women. At the risk of appearing unladylike, I stumbled into The Hamilton with the intention of trying whiskey for the first time. As I was internally battling with my mother's judgement, a kind bartender named Ross noticed me looking troubled. He could tell immediately what my predicament was. I was surprised how intuitive he was. He assured me that women drink whiskey all the time, and it's completely normal. Ross allowed me to sample a few different kinds of whiskey, and I really loved how it made me feel! I'll admit, I did feel slightly more boisterous after consuming the samples, but Ross assured me that it was okay to express myself! At the end of the sampling, he fixed me an elegant cocktail, and I was again reminded of my feminine demeanor. I loved being able to let loose while sipping a delicate cocktail. Who says women can't drink whiskey??? THIS woman can and WILL! Thank you Ross.
Joy Flower Pot NYC
2023 Dec 17
I was having one of those New York days where everything goes wrong. My heel broke, I got splashed by a puddle of sewage, I forgot to brush my teeth this morning, and I got kicked by a subway performer. It wasn’t till I traipsed past Joy Flower Pot that my day turned around. I heard faint whistling coming from a little shop adorned in flowers and green of all shades. The tune was Old Man River, and it struck me because my grandfather used to whistle that tune to me as a child. The lovely employee who brought back this memory was, Brent, a charming young, talented, florist. We chatted for nearly 20 minutes, but I could have talked with him for hours. He showed me his lovely work, and recommended an arrangement that might help with attracting positive energy. Brent was there to remind me that even on the worst days, there’s always a silver lining. Thank you Joy Flower pot, I will be returning
