Gharapuri island used to have its own schools for the children living on the island. The last school is now closed. Most of the business is related to tourism. There are some fishermen. The island is thickly wooded. Safe as long as you stick to the marked routes. There are Buddhist ruins on the island in addition to the caves. They are difficult to access but might be worth it as they are supposed to from second century CE.
The park is a gathering place for friends, place to practice cricket at the nets, to workout at the free open gym, to grab a quick bite, to play tennis, or to visit temple. Large open space is organized, clean, and welcoming. Large Shivaji statue is accompanied by several smaller memorials of notable personalities and artists. Bal Thackeray memorial is also expansive with a perpetual flame. The park has nurtured many generations and continues to do so. It also has a history in political movements right from the freedom struggle. There is also a nice area - Nana Nani park for the senior citizens.
Easy trails and lake right within Princeton. Ample parking.
The lobby is worth a visit to appreciate Art Deco design.
