I wanted to see the monument to the Black 54th Coast Artillery Regiment that protected Montery Bay in WWII.
In response to the Japanese Submarine attacks along to California coast after Pearl Harbor, they manned gun positions in Shell Beach, Avila, Morro Bay, Montery, and Santa Cruz from April 1942-June 1944.
I love the extra detail on the hand rail. The design is from the unit crest.
