I wish I could give it more stars... I've known about this park for years but people told me it was a waste of time period period I know the Vereen family , has done so much for this community and I want to give a special thank you to them, for this beautiful public park, this is one of those hidden gems people talk about... First off a rarity in this the park is mostly in the shade it at all times of the day... It's free.... it's rarely crowded.. So there's generous parking which includes handicap parking and and it has restrooms There's plenty of wildlife.... You can't beat the views which, I would like to mention are mostly wheelchair accessible. It has amazing Walking trails and I'd like to stress they're walking trails. They're not the Appalachian trail or the Pacific coast trail or even a difficult 5 star hiking trail. These are a beautiful walking trails. it's dog and family friendly. I love that the family kept its private cemetery on the property..... But my favorite thing about the park is the wishing tree in the back by the water. Or let me say trees period period I can't wait to go back and hang mine. I wanted to take it home and paint it first and then I want to copy the idea and do it in my backyard.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention the boardwalks that go out over the water that give amazing views of the marsh and the intercoastal . the dolphin were feeding when I was there And there are 2 set of grown up swings for couples or small families to sit on and watch the water in the shade.I can't say anything wrong about this park.Except I wish I had found it a lot sooner.

It's not the most beautiful historic area in Florida, but it has a lot of history. There's a few nice shops. The rest are kind of touristy. The architecture is beautiful. But it's such a small downtown area. Two homes that are must-see are Jim Morrison's house. He was a child. He was born at the Melbourne hospital and this was the house that he grew up and you'll have to Google it and then there's a house directly behind the henninger Center and highline apartment building parking lot. It's across the street from the Southeast corner of the parking lot. It's beautiful. The only history I can find about it is that it belonged to a church, but it looks more like it belonged to a gangster. And just for fun. The house right across the street has a giant flower pot in its yard made from bricks.
This is my favorite neighborhood gas station. It's never really busy and the staff is really friendly. And I think that their slurpees or slushies are better than 7-Elevens They have so many more flavors.
I love this little park. It has an amazing view. The live oaks are majestic. It's a great place to just walk your dog. There is not as many homeless people as usual and feels very safe. I also enjoy walking around the neighborhood and looking at the homes.
