Stopped in for lunch and my first ever Bahn Mi. Two choices of Bahn Mi fillings, pork or chicken. We had the chicken. The lady serving says she gets the baguettes specifically driven from Brisbane every day and I must say, the care for the food was excellent even down to the way it was served as you can see in the photos.
There was a little heat in the roll but this could be avoided if needed as it was a large chunk of chilli.
It is an observation not a complaint that it took a little while to come but that is thankfully because they are made fresh to order. So if you want a quicker lunch turnaround, ring and order before you arrive.
The place generally was clean and tidy. The owner knows what she is doing.
The owner too makes the place as she is effervescent and full of life. Makes such a difference when people are pleased to have customers!
Coffee unfortunately was so so but maybe a one off and was not a game changer to an otherwise lovely tasty lunch.

The area associated with the Carrara Lions Park is the Emerald Lakes Walkway. So apart from the play area itself there is the Emerald Lakes Walkway, an off leash dog exercise area, a good flat outdoor area for running around or kicking a ball and a barbeque area.
The playground area is one of the only ones I have found so far that caters to young children with some nice low, readily accessible activity sets just for them. The area too is well shaded and clean.
There is a nice shady area to eat a picnic and electric barbeques for hire if that is your persuasion.
If you took a bike or trike, there is a good path to let your children free on.
A rubbish bin is available but no water or toilets.
On the negative side, the area is not fenced but the park is not next to a main road. There is an unpleasant smell in the air from the wetlands and the wet lands may give rise to mosquitoes and other wildlife at times. But this is not unmanageable. When we were there the grass had not been mowed and there was a lot of clover which hosted plenty of beautiful bees. A child without shoes could be in for it.
A nice little spot that with a bit of forethought could accommodate and entertain a wide group of ages.

We have been trawling the kiddies parks trying to find a good match for us and our grandchild. All parks have their good points and their not so good points.
On the positive side; There is a nice area to sit and have lunch out of the sun. Their is a drinking fountain and rubbish bin. The park is nice and open and feels safe. There is a great bike track that meanders through the play area. There is also grass for running around on just outside of the play area.
On the not so good side; there are no toilets, the play equipment was a little dull and was a little too hard or a little too easy. There is a swing but not really of any use for younger kids as there is no back and yet it is way too small for any child over three. The real negative and a sad one I think, there was dog poo not only on the grass surrounding the play area but a nice mound was actually in the sawdust of the play area. Very sad that someone can take their dog there and not clean up after themselves, selfish so and so's!
The pictures probably show things off the best.
Not a bad spot but unless I was going to have a picnic or something and I had younger kids, there are better options around. Mind you, do not forget to take the trike or bike, the track is great.

I love thai food so was looking forward to our lunch at Absolutely Thai.
You can sit inside or out or even take away if you want. We chose outside but at lunch time, it is a pretty busy street so we did cop a fair smattering of smoke from passerbys but oh well, you get the intimacy of being on the street with the bustle and grind. It did not help a patron on a table next to use talked incessantly and loudly on his mobile for well over 40 minutes.
The table was clean, the menu clear and clean and the lady who served us was a sweetheart.
We had a noodle dish with tofu and a thai vegetarian fried rice with vegetables. The food arrived very promptly and was fresh and clean in flavour. The portion size was commendable in these frugal times and overall the price was good. $30 for a lunch for two with nice food is pretty good.
Would not hesitate to try again.
Parking is a bit of a challenge but at worse you could use the parking at Australia Fair and walk. AF gives you three hours free.

Out for lunch for a special occasion. Not a great day on the Gold Coast weatherwise but a nice welcome and position at Omeros Seafood establishment and things were looking up.
We had between us, the garlic prawns with rice, charred octopus and scallops. We added a side of charred broccolini and the restaurant always serve a bowl of chips with the meal gratis.
Our waitress was very efficient and pleasant.
The place was reasonably busy but the care and attitude of the staff would not have made this apparent.
We had a great lunch but I would say it was very nice and solid but not out of this world.
If we were to return, we would have more entree shared plates as to be honest they seemed much better value and of course you could then try a better variety of seafood.
The difference between the main course and entree sized garlic prawns was exactly four prawns but $16 or so dollars. Okay, you are not thinking of the price if you go to a place like this but I am just saying for those that do watch their pennies.
A very good experience and one I would recommend but it was not transformative.
