I would like to comment on the fact that this is the only municipal library, to my knowledge, that is so called “public” library where you are not permitted to use their washroom facilities. The librarian clearly and unequivocally tells you that the washroom facilities are not for the public. Following she will ask you to try the facilities at Patisserie de la Gare when they are closed at 5 pm and it is now 5:30 pm. To add fuel to the fire the librarian tells you that this is not really a library for Montreal West because it’s not funded in whole by the residents, but at the same time their signage clearly states “ Montreal West Public Library”. Very confusing message. Either you are or you aren’t the Montreal West Public Library. Imagine that you are a Montreal West resident for almost 40 years and a library member and you are refused the use of washroom facilities as they are for the 1 or 2 staff members and not for the many library patrons. We are outraged that a public library has the audacity to conduct themselves in such an objectionable manner. A public library is to serve the public, not the employees.
