Stinky patch of land next to the lovely Goose Creek river with no trails. Probably a good spot for taking your canoe out. Avoid wasting your time here. I see a great opportunity to cut a trail next to the creek and run it along the same.
Another beautiful fall weekend hike in Loudoun county. Great place to take your toddler and let yourself soak into the preserve which teaches you about not only all common trees that are native to Virginia, but also some exotic ones from China. There are plenty of crisscrossing trails that are all connected! We started behind the building that was in front of the parking lot, got lured to a small pond, decided to keep going beyond to a beautiful getaway at the Goose Creek and finally walked along an amazing trail stretch called Carter-Luck to wind our day. Being a preserve, the paths are well maintained, covered with grass that won't die with all the hikers trampling them and constantly being attempted at being encroached by low lying vegetation amidst the tall cedars, oaks and walnuts that make this a fall foliage wonderland. Now, if you have read this far, don't forget to stay back and soak in a perfect sunset from the parking lot!

Very nice place to visit with your toddler or as in my case, my 5 year old who was delighted to see the original caboose preserved right off the trail.

Amazing get away to mother nature in the middle of Ashburn that is fast becoming a concrete jungle of urbanization. Nice way to get there is to park on W&OD parking lot off Belmont Ridge (look out for a large cell tower) and bike to the trail area (1 mile). There seems to be quite a lot of use of the trails since we observed a bunch of energy bar wrappers, old socks, t-shirts etc. We hope to get back to do some clean up and return glory to mother nature. Great hike in the park with a 1 mile circuit that keeps the promise of a great get away. My 5 year old enjoys the adventure that nature has to offer. Access to the creek with stone bridges to cross across make it an exciting weekend or summer evening activity. It took an hour to finish the circuit. The trails are also designated mountain bike choices.
Ashburn Park

The very best place for kids in Ashburn. With impeccably maintained facilities including well maintained restrooms with automatic flushes and faucets. With a picnic shelter you can rent out for hosting parties, a whole range of slides for kids from ages 1 to 12 clearly designated for use as well as a whole host of interesting features in the form of different types of dinosaurs imprinted on the playsets ,"find me" games of different creatures on different playsets and lastly separate set of swings and picnic benches make the spark very special location in Ashburn. Your toddlers don't want to miss this.
