A very good Vietnamese restaurant in Vaughan. This is my second time to dine in this restaurant. My friends fly to Toronto to visit us and we bring them to this nearby restaurant. It is 8pm on a Friday night and are full, fortunately we take the last set of seats.
The food is delicious, I especially like my vermicelli, B09 grilled beef & spring roll on vermicelli. The portion of beef is large and the grilled beef tastes very good. The spring roll is a pretty long one, taste okay but gives a little strange yellow look. Vermicelli only comes in one size, and I have to share almost half to my husband. I am extremely full after finishing it. The beef rice noodle soup also looks good, it has 4 sizes. Small size is good enough for lady if you also have side orders. Our side order is A02 fresh rolls with shrimp, pork, vegetable & vermicelli. The rice skin is chewy but not my favorite.
Overall food tastes good, portion is big, seat is spacious and service is good and polite.
A small museum. The displays are not much and 30-45minutes is enough to walk through it. The most interesting item is the train demo. Admission is $10 for adult and I think it is a bit expensive in terms of the display volume and exhibit area size.
We go camping at Bass Lake Provincial Park on Victoria Day. This is our first time camping in Canada and it is a good experience. Bass Lake is just around 1 hour 15 minutes drive from Toronto, quite convenient and we are surprised to find that the entire campsite is full and busy! Each camp site is separated by small brushes and we can hear people talking on the phones, babies crying etc. There are 2 men having a loud conversation next to our camp which is unpleasant as we want to enjoy the nature with less disturbance. There is a tap water nearby and the public washroom/shower (total 5 shower rooms) is just a few minutes walk. Our campsite comes with 1 picnic table and 1 open fire. We use charcoal to make camp fire. Our campsite can accommodate 2 tents and 2 cars. Parking permit for the 2nd car is $12.50 +tax.
We are recommended by our friends that 炳勝is good, economical and has traditional dim sum.
On this Sunday we bring parents to 炳勝, 4 of us arrive the restaurant at 1:15pm and the small entrance area is packed with people waiting. After waiting for ~20minutes we are seated at a round table at the corner.
The dim sum price as below: All normal dim sum are $4.68 for weekend 9am to 4pm while $4.48 for weekdays. Special ones are $5.68 for weekend and $5.48 for weekdays. There are 49 normal dim sum and 10 special ones, the choice and variety of dim sum is not as plenty as other dim sum restaurants but I think they are sufficient.
We order 5 dim sum and 1 Yeung chow fried rice. The dim sum quality and taste is average, made in traditional ways but not really my cup of tea. For example, the skin of shrimp dumplings 蝦餃, deep fried dough 炸兩and plain roll 白腸粉is thick and in different texture compare to those Hong King style. 豬膶燒賣is a rare dish and good to try. The fried rice is good but too little bbq pork. Overall the food is good but not very delicious because traditional dim sum is just like this!
