Recently I have taken up a little tennis coaching, and my friend/student and I have been testing out different tennis courts across the city. It’s always a bit of a gambit, but of the courts we’ve used thus far, I would say these ones really made an impression on me. They are well-maintained and nestled in a good little spot contained within a quiet residential area. I wouldn’t say they are a hidden gem because it seems they are quite popular—on a Monday afternoon, we were among 3 to 5 groups waiting to play—and there are only 2 courts available. Still, the vibes were relaxed, friendly for beginners, and the people were among the nicest crowds we’ve met, both friendly and mindful of sharing the courts so every group got playing time. Now, I was also able to successfully teach the foundations of a basic forehand stroke, so much so that it has completely changed the way my friend hits the ball, so I was truly elated for the majority of my time here. Let’s take a moment here to acknowledge that my friend did an absolutely great job. I’m so proud. When she wins, I win. I think the courts played a big part in us having an effective lesson. It was really a group win if you think about it.
