2020 Feb 23
Planted in 2007 to depict a typical Mediterranean natural habitat, this area of the Gardens transports you to the sun-kissed landscape of Southern Europe.  It was designed to highlight the economic uses of Mediterranean plants, the diversity of life the habitat supports and the conservation efforts needed to ensure its survival.

A brick arch with rustication in stucco. Triple arched opening with oculi above lower side arches, it has stone band course and a fragmented blocked cornice and brick coffering and a corniced doorway. It was built in 1759–60 by Sir William Chambers.
The London Wall was the defensive wall first built by the Romans around Londinium, their strategically important port town on the River Thames in what is now London. Built in the late 2nd or early 3rd century. Until the later Middle Ages, the wall defined the boundaries of the City of London.

The San Remo
2019 Dec 07
Architect, Emery Roth, took advantage of new zoning regulations to build the first of New York's twin towered apartment blocks. Each of San Remo's ten-story towers is topped with an English Baroque mansion in the manner of John Vanbrugh and capped with a homage to the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates. The Athenian monument was known to Roth from the reproduction that had featured in the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, 1893.
