At an elevation of about 1,800 ft you can enjoy views west into Pennsylvania, north into New York state, and east across valleys of New Jersey. Dress warmly, the area of the monument is very open and can be windy.
The property has numerous trails, including a section of the Appalachian Trail. In summer the lake is open to swimming at a designated beach area.
