Busy Sunday lunch but managed to get a last minute booking. Arrived to a bustling bistro with beach views and loud but fabulous live soloist Rene Le Feuvre. Food was good pub food however Laksa lacked the depth and gritty complexity it is famous for but still tasty. Chips were awesome.
My favourite Christmas markets in Europe and we’ve been to a few - Strasbourg was terrible, Annecy lovely, Prague Old Town beautiful, but this topped them all! The market cottages (not stalls) are so beautifully crafted and decorated it’s hard to believe it’s temporary and the whole market gets packed away. The ice rink is the most impressive with an elongated 8 shape that goes around a fountain and has a decent circle at the other end to do your spins and between both is a good straight course to build some speed and practice some moves. It was the highlight of our Koln visit. The market food and drink was awesome with the usual mulled wines and hot chocolates, but the food was to die for with hot, barbecued salmon, potatoes cakes sweet or savoury with the garlic sauce version the best!!
