All things considered, one of the safer experiences I’ve had in a bar, especially as a lesbian. I felt safe enough to leave my coat on a hanger, and the attendees generally seemed to look out for one another. Can be quite crowded, but it’s also a pretty wide open space, so I felt there was something of an equilibrium there.
Other elements of the atmosphere left something to be desired, though. Felt like the environment was designed to serve people who just turned 21, which I totally get, but what confused me most was the music. I went on a night where DJ Mariko was playing, and it was like 50 Cent, Flo Rida, and Ying Yang Twins?? Who is this for, millennial real estate agents? How about some Syd? Janelle Monae? Missy Elliott???! Straightest lesbian bar in the tri-state area.
