We just recently stayed in room 208. It was dirty with dust on most surfaces and build up of dust behind and under all beds. The windows were disgusting too, with the tracks full of dust and bugs.
The 4 single beds were on wheels with no brakes, meaning they rolled around on the vinyl floor everywhere.
We did ask if we could have the wheels chocked on day 2 of our stay, which was semi fixed with what chocks could be found and either 1 or 2 of the 6 wheels were chocked on each bed, so they still rolled across the floor.
The ensuite toilet seat was dangerously loose, we asked for that to be fixed on day 2 also, which it was.
There was water damage to the floor next to the kitchen, which had formed a big hump in the floor and vinyl was lifting along the vinyl and tile seam. The kitchen cabinets were also damaged from the water.
The furniture was old and had chips and laminate peeling off it. The lounges were uncomfortable with some cushions higher than others with springs obviously on their way out.
I had to exterminate a cockroach 🪳 I found crawling all over the main bathroom vanity top one night.
The main bed was meant to be a king but was a queen, and the ikea mattress was that old and BROKEN that the sides of it had collapsed out and it felt like we were going to roll out of the bed all night on each side.
The real cruncher for us was when I pulled back all the sheets off the beds on departure and left them in the middle of the bed (as I always do)…. The main bed mattress was MOULDY!!!! And full of brown stains!! The mattress was well and truly past its time. I felt sick knowing I’d just spent 3 night sleeping on that!
Upon checking out at 10am on Saturday morning, to voice our concerns about the mattress I’d just discovered, the reception conveniently opened at 10:30. There was no paper provided to leave feedback either.
The room served its purpose, but that’s all it did. It needs a bit of love and attention and some money spent on it to bring it up to a standard you would expect from a hotel.
Whilst the reception staff were friendly and prompt with the couple of little things we asked for, we expected better. Providing a clean and working mattress, with sides that aren’t collapsed should be standard.
