A few months ago we walked in and were surprised by a remodeling project taking place. We were told that things were going to be improved and we couldn't wait to go back and do our usual shopping. So many lovely things at the store, fancy soaps, coconut scrubs, custom jewelry, honey, home decor, even books and a Special Monopoly game inspired by the town. Sadly we returned for the art festival and they eliminated the store. Nothing left but some t-shirts in a small display. The remodel turned the lovely visitor center into a cold office space with divided offices that include the chamber of commerce. What a disservice to Sanford to dispose of such pleasant and inviting store...Sad indeed.

Peaceful place with plenty of sitting areas, shaded benches, gazebos and designated fishing plus enjoyable boardwalk/ trails. For years it had been impossible to visit due to being closed every time we were in the area. Today was our lucky day. Open from Thursday to Sunday. Swings for kids and grills are also plentiful. Will be back on a Thursday definitely- for some relaxation for me and fishing for my hubby. A piece of heaven in Altamonte.
We love to spend time in Downtown Sanford especially at the farmer's market. This lovely area makes you relaxed but they have plenty of activities on a regular basis. A stop at the visitor center is a must for some cool gifts and interesting books. The trail by Lake Monroe is under expansion and it's coming up beautifully with nice street lights and parking areas all the way to where the Sanford Zoo entrance is located.
