Blue Asian Cuisine
2023 May 03
I am sorry to have to post this review because I WAS a HUGE fan of Blue Asian Cuisine from the time they opened and always gave them rave reviews... until this evening. I always felt they had the best authentic tasting Chinese food around and encouraged others to go there. But this evening's order has changed my mind about ever going back.
We haven't ordered Chinese food out in a while and I was so looking forward to dinner.
I placed an online order for their House Fried Rice (which I always loved) it always packed with chunks of Pork, Chicken, Beef and a number of Shrimp. I also ordered Beef Teriyaki.
There was only one size for each...so we expected to get the same size we always received. Each was priced online at $10.95. The rice dish we received was small, only about 1 1/2 cups of rice with teeny tiny little bits of pork, chicken and only 1 shrimp. It also inculded a few beansprouts and a couple of pieces of green onion (even though I very specifically ordered it without onion). We received 3 Teriyaki strips. I get that they are trying to keep control of their prices...but cutting portions to this extent is ridiculous. I'd rather they be upfront and increase their prices accordingly, like everyone else has had to do to maintain the quality of their food and portions.
The online ordering system said that the restraunt may call to verify our credit card information. My husband decided he would pay when he picked up the order. But their system would not process the order without our credit card information. We received no call to verify the credit card. What we did receive was the surprise that the order was billed out at nearly $3 more when he picked it up . This included a $.50 online credit card charge. When my husband brought the discrepancy to their attention, they apologized with the excuse that their online system wasn't able to process the credit card payment and the price quoted online and in the email confirmation, was wrong. The owner had raised the prices. What? Like in the last 10 minutes? Instead of giving him a credit for the over charge, they gave him two burned egg rolls instead.
So...while I loved their food in the past. I find it hard to ignore deceptive practices of bait and switch.
If I had gone to pick up the meal, it would still be sitting on their counter.
$27+ for 1 1/2 cups of overcooked rice with less then 1/8 cup of tiny pieces of pork and chicken and 1 shrimp...along with 3 thin strips of Teriyaki is a bit too much for me to swallow.
