A nice way to get to know the history of Tallinn is a visit to the City Museum. English translations are available for all the exhibitions.

It gives off this feeling of multiculturality, with the plague column of the Holy Trinity, the mosque (which is nowadays a church) and another church on the lower side. The watery stairs on the left of the mosque are also a nice touch.
