The Red Chickz
2024 Feb 25
With the rise of fried chicken spots in L.A, The Red Chickz is worth checking out. They have locations in DTLA, Carlsbad and Culver City, and are opening a restaurant in Cypress Texas.

Their signature seasoning is full of smoked spices, and they use a lot of it! You can opt for how spicy you want your chicken to be. I got mild because I can’t handle heat. My husband picked medium and it wasn’t very spicy so they did great on the hot levels.

After you eat your fingers will be red from all the spices!

The cauliflower is huge. It’s the size of a baseball and my favorite thing on their menu. Dipped in seasoned batter and fried to perfection. We got 2 and it was enough for 2 people.

The cheese curds are bomb.
I want to get their cup of pickles next time.
Nice crunch to their chicken. It wasn’t overly crunchy, and they serve up fat pieces of chicken.

Was craving pasta on a rainy day and super glad we chose this place. They were busy and it took a little longer to get our meals but it was worth it. Their pastas are saucy, I love when places give lots of sauce with their pastas. We got the spaghetti bolognese and chicken fettuccine with Alfredo sauce. SO good. I couldn’t help but finish every bite!

Excellent spot where you can customize your own pastas. Next time I want to try their lobster ravioli.

The price points are pretty fair for being in Corporation Food Hall in DTLA.
The one guy making all the food and taking orders from multiple platforms - wow 👏

They have delicious strawberry lemonade and mango lemonade!

There’s a small parking lot next to the building and some street parking.
6th Street Market

A little bit of everything can be found here. They have a nice selection of grocery products that range from generic brands to more high end brands.
You can find supplies for the bathroom and kitchen. Alcohol, tobacco and the lotto are sold here.
The prices are a little more expensive for the convenience of the store and also the location being right in the middle of the Historic core.
I like their fresh cut fruit. The ladies who work there are super nice. Once the watermelon wasn’t going to last more than a day and so she gave me a discount on the fruit.
You might luck out on street parking out front but it’s more of a local walk up spot.

Juicy, satiating and messy burgers. Simple as that. You can also get fries and brussel sprouts but their focused menu is all about the burgers.

Got a double cheese burger and it was good. If you like greasy messy burgers this is the spot for you! They definitely smash their patties.

It wasn’t busy at the market so we got our meal within 10 minutes. The price point is on the higher end of burger spectrums, about $20 for a burger with fries and a tip.

It’s a cute attempt at providing some green space but it feels more like the side of a parking lot. I don’t feel comfortable letting my dog use this for any bathroom needs because it’s so small. Often you’ll find food trucks with delicious offerings on one side of the triangle. There are little seats that line a side. It makes a good place to meet a friend before heading out somewhere else.
