Rex Hotel Garden Bar
2024 Apr 07
The Rex Hotel Rooftop Garden Bar is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the city, offering a unique and unforgettable experience. Steeped in history, the hotel has been a landmark since the 1950s, and the rooftop bar has become a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike.

Perched atop the hotel, the rooftop garden bar boasts a nice panoramic view of the city skyline (personally like the lights in the evening), providing a serene and tranquil escape from the bustling streets below. The outdoor seating is uncomfortable in the afternoon heat, but there is a shaded area for a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with a refreshing cocktail. The menu has a good range of food and drinks, though I found the former to be average.

While the food may not be the star of the show, the overall experience at the Rex Hotel Rooftop Garden Bar is a great highlight. The combination of the breathtaking views, the laidback ambiance, and the well-curated drinks menu make it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a unique and memorable night out in the city.
A visit to Heritage of Mei Ho House Museum in Hong Kong is a fascinating journey through the city's public housing history. The museum beautifully showcases the evolution of Hong Kong's urban development and offers insights into the lives of its residents. With well-preserved exhibits and engaging displays, it's a must-visit for those interested in the cultural heritage of the city.
Shenzhen Museum
2024 Jan 22
The Shenzhen Museum located in Futian district is one of the city’s not to be missed gems, offering fascinating historical exhibits from the ancient to the modern and is actually three museums packed into one huge complex that is an architectural marvel by itself. The current highlight is the Pingcheng and Yungang Grottoes Art in the Northern Wei Dynasty Exhibition at the History and Folk Culture Division in Civic Centre where visitors can check out the 9 meter tall replica of Yungang Grottoes Cave 12, famously known as the “Music Cave”. that was built between 470 and 494AD in Northern Wei’s capital Pingcheng (now Datong, Shanxi Province). Was well worth the high speed rail ride in from Hong Kong.
Wenceslas Square
2023 Dec 22
Wenceslas Square is lovely around Christmas where there’s a less crowded and more enjoyable Christmas market (though Wikipedia says this is the place with “the busiest pedestrian traffic in the whole country”) and other activities on the boulevard. Also the place to get a great photo of the Czech National Museum and a few other notable historical buildings like the Koruna Palace, as well as the Statue of Wenceslas.
Very pleasant early morning on weekends without the crowds.
