What a treat at the end of a long working day. From arrival to departure the staff and experience are too notch and cannot be faulted. The atmosphere is a bit Gatsby and a touch of Speakeasy. The food (we mainly had a sushi platter) was very good and the drinks were excellent (various saki and a negroni). The cocktails that passed by for other tables looking amazing. They're a sensory experience rather than "a drink in a glass". Even visiting the bathroom brought surprises! Well worth a visit (and I believe you generally have to book although we walked in quite late midweek). Fantastic.
Last minute dinner with friends and really wanted to try Yauatcha as had long been recommended. It was a hot sunny evening and the place was busy. It has quite a lot of background noise which I liked as you could chat and not feel you were being listened to. More of a "buzz" I would say. The food is very good. Crispy duck is not the best I've had (Min Jiang is the go to for that) but is good (shredded rather than my preferred sliced!). We all enjoyed the food and the environment. The staff were friendly and we didn't feel rushed even though it was a busy evening.
So. Last minute lunch with a friend. Get in quick for the Duck and Dim Sum special for £55 for the special half duck and 2 dim sum. I cannot highlight how good the food is, how great the staff are and how stunning the view is across Hyde Park.
A visit on a whim with friends. A comfortable dining room with tables nicely spaced. Very friendly service with excellent food. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and well put together. The house white was decent and well priced. Very enjoyable and always nice not to feel rushed. My chicken Pad Thai was excellent and my friends enjoyed their Thai green curry. Worth a visit.
A solo Saturday evening and Ma Po was as good as ever. The Dim Sum Platter to start was just right for one. I went double on starters with Hot and Sour soup which was not too hot (thankfully) and was really tasty. Duck with egg fried rice was washed down with a couple of Tiger beers. Having been a regular for many years with a long break until today I was pleased to see the food quality was as good as ever and won't be leaving it so long to visit again.
