Great value short boat trip. The trip lasted about half an hour with an audio track playing some interesting local information. It's now a modern boat, I'm sure it's the same one doing the same route as it was 30 odd years ago. I'd definitely recommend it.

Poor Smith's. There's just no point to them now. Their prices are higher on many items and it's now just somewhere to nip in to grab a quick drink because they have no queues compared to other shops. They do have a fantastic magazine selection though.

Returned today to check out some books. Alas the selection is smaller than ever and has now been moved to the upper floor. Seeing the prices on some of the things in there and it's like they aren't even trying to compete.

Easily one of the best, if not THE best curry takeaways in Bolton. I have never been let down by the food which is always delicious. Service is always friendly when you go in and the portion sizes are huge. Well worth a visit.

Meh. Quite disappointing. It's been a long time since I last came to the pier and it's not as great as I remembered it. The big play area is no more. I'm fairly certain it burnt down many years ago and has never been replaced. The arcades are sub- standard (think an even cheaper version of Blackpool (if that's even possible)). The pier has seen better days. It doesn't look like any maintenance has been performed in the last 20+ years. You can get plenty of overpriced drinks/ice cream/sugary snacks from the various shops/stall there. There is plenty of overpriced cheap tat and even a shop dedicated to selling counterfeit LEGO.
The only good things really are the views. The views are stunning, it's just a shame the rest doesn't match. The whole place just needs to be cleaned up and updated.
