Good mountain bike trail. The rocks and roots are good-sized so you definitely need a mountain bike. I would not recommend for a hybrid or smaller. Check the map well as the trails are marked but veer off in a number of directions...you could easily get caught on a 12 mile loop when you only intended to go 3 or 4.

This trailhead is on MT2 which is a short scenic drive from I90 in Whitehall back to I90 in Butte. Easy enough to stop while traveling if you want a quick hike near the CDT. It's 4 miles from the trailhead to the CDT.
