It is a beautiful Latin quarter of the city, with colourful old Portuguese houses and narrow streets. There are signs saying no vehicles, but these are ignored. Unfortunately, some tourists have behaved rudely in the past, disrespecting the residents. As a result there are signs up everywhere saying "No photography" and that you are under video surveillance. Some uncouth louts have spoiled it for genuine tourists who have come to appreciate the quaint houses, without intruding on the householders.
German expressionist paintings are superb, Otto Dix in particular. Great exhibition on the first floor with amazing portraits by Oskar Zwintscher.
