Be VERY very clear about what parts of the coat you don’t want trimmed. Otherwise your long hair dog will end up looking like the short hair version of the breed. Unlike a Shih Tzu, a double coat does not grow continuously. It will take up to 6 months or more for my long hair German Shepherd’s fur to shed out and grow back to its full length.
The first time I brought her in, I got 5 star service. I was impressed by the hard work (she was a rescue and such a mess) and she came back to me with her long coat smelling wonderful and looking truly gorgeous.
I expected the same result with the same groomer but we must have had a miscommunication. Now my long hair German Shepherd looks like a short hair German Shepherd with a tail tip that looks like a makeup brush!
