The first of my Sherborne trilogy, the fantastic ruins of Sherborne Old Castle of the 12th century. Situated in the small town of Sherborne Dorset, in beautiful grounds next to New Sherborne Castle and stunning surrounding countryside
Thoroughly recommend a visit, exploring the ruins, walking around the moat, and learning the castles history
The site is maintained by English heritage so if a member entrance is free as is the parking.

A small but very informative museum that tells the story of RAF Defford and the secrecy of the Radar development work that was carried out there during world war 2. If like me you are interested in this kind of history then this museum is an absolute must visit. The museum building including the National Trust reception and cafe are original wartime buildings.
The Pozieres cemetery / memorial is must visit when touring the Somme battlefield or just passing by. Situated on the main road from Bapaume to Albert it is located just outside the village of Pozieres. Only a 5 minute drive from Thiepval memorial , Ulster Tower and Lochnagar crater.
